Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for admission to the English Program at New Jersey English Center?

To get started, you will need to fill out the New Jersey English Center Student Admission Form with a copy of:
· Copy of Passport bio pages, valid at least 6 months.
· Copy of High-School diploma or University Degree.

How will I know if I have been accepted into the program?

If your application has been accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter in the following days.

How will I know which level of English classes I have been assigned?

Once a student enrolls in the ESL program, the student is required to undergo testing. Once the student has completed the test, he / she will be placed into one of FIVE levels, ranging from 1 to 5. This testing process is used to determine what Syllabus and which classes the student will benefit from the most, based on that student’s reading comprehension, writing, listening and speaking skills. The nine levels are divided up into three general 'level-blocks': Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Will there be an orientation for newly arrived students?

Before you begin your classes at New Jersey English Center you will have Orientation. During Orientation you will receive a student Orientation Handbook which answers many questions about studying at New Jersey English Center. Orientation will cover N.J.E.C.'s attendance policies, grading policies, student progress, vacation, probation, transfers, and much more. All students must attend orientation.

Can I study with a Tourist Visa?

Yes- Those who come to the US with a tourist visa, can decide to study once they are in the US for short, avocational, non-degree courses.
Courses can’t be full time. We offer the Semi-intensive program of up to 16 hrs/ week.
